We have to agree that it’s no Bold 9700 and no Motorola Droid, but Verizon’s new BlackBerry Storm2 certainly has what it takes to get our attention. Speaking of which, we just got our hands on some leaked documents where the Storm2 is being expected to release on Big Red starting October 28 for a price that will go just shy of $180.

Not that we’re not happy to know the release is just around the corner, but there are things we can’t understand. There’s the Bold 2 in queue and it’s a pretty darn interesting smartphone to do with, there’s also one of the most craved for mobile of the year, the Droid, and Verizon does what? Announce the new BB Storm 2 for the end of October? Doesn’t it sound like they’re trying to “actually” bury it.

Those who can’t remember, BlackBerry Storm 2 packs a 3.2 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, the BlackBerry OS 5.0, threaded texting, an enhanced SurePress typing system that would employ Piezo technology, more durable rubber keys and a highly responsive screen and capabilities to display orientation in no time.

Sneak Peak on RIM’s BlackBerry Storm II 9550..

The Storm wasn’t a huge success comparing it with the popularity of the famous BlackBerry products in the market. Nonetheless, RIM very bravely went ahead and decided to do an upgrade.

The RIM BlackBerry Stromwasn’t that successful a smartphone especially considering the success RIM has had with its other phones. The Storm II 9550 is therefore a more detailed product from RIM and the manufacturer has high hopes the second time around. You find the phone with the same screen on the outside but, there is a lot more which is gone on the inside. The touch input is now registered by four sensors which is an obvious hint that the screen responds better.

The design is also pretty much similar to the Storm I (there was nothing wrong with the previous design either) but the weight of the phone has been reduced. Another hearty change is the battery door latch mechanism and the side keys which now adore rubber rather than steel.
