Motorola unveiled its all new Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet at the CES 2011 which grabbed the spotlight.

Motorola Xoom is the first tablet to run Android 3.0 Honeycomb and to support 4G Network(via some hardware and software upgrade).Not only the software but also the eye popping hardware on Xoom dragged everyone’s attention.

The Motorola Xoom features a 1GHz Dual core Tegra 2 Processor, 1GB of RAM ,a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 capacitive display(with scratch proof gorilla glass) and 32GB of Internal storage.With specs like that and also the tablet exclusive version of android running on it one could not help but get dragged towards it but the price could be the one that might repel you back.

Priced around $800 (off contract) the Xoom is surely one expensive piece of hardware.

Performance

The 1GHz Tegra Cpu accompanied by 1gig RAM does manage to do all the basic tablet jobs without dropping a sweat.The tablet has been found to multitask ,run games,apps and browser effortlessly.

Sound and camera

The sound output is pretty amazing.The inbuilt speaker is crisp and loud enough.A decent 5MP camera has been installed on the rear of the device which is also capable of 720p HD video recording.

Battery life

one of the most important aspect to be tested,the battery life is where Xoom impressed us the most .A hands-on report says the tablet could run videos on 65% brightness level 8.20 hrs(without break),which is way better than 90% of the tablets.

2		Motorola BACKFLIPOne of the first Android phones with radical design. The design is questionable as good and bad, but the worst part about this phone is that is still runs antique Android 1.5 operating system. Plus, since it’s an AT&T Android it doesn’t allow Android apps to be sideloaded.
3		GarminfoneThis Garmin GPS Navigation powered phone didn’t do well in sales and prices were even slashed. Can’t say we didn’t see this one coming.
4		Motorola Flip OutAppealing to the younger audience, to be a fun and hip Android phone should stay for the kiddies. The square screen size is so small only a kid can deal with it.
5		Dell StreakDell’s dud topped many news stories this year but disappointed when finally became available. Is it a phone? Rather huge to hold to the head… It is a tablet? Five inch screen is not really suitable for a tablet. The worst aspect is the old Android OS and custom skin (which will make seeing an upgrade impossible especially with dismal sales).

Whilst the hardware and spec of the two handsets is identical, the Motorola MILESTONE will include multi-touch support - a feature sadly lacking on the Motorola DROID.

Android devices come from all walks of life but rarely do they carry as much baggage as the MILESTONE. Motorola seem to be betting the farm with the MILESTONE and the warm reception it’s getting must leave them breathing a sigh of relief. Catching the Android wave may’ve seemed like the last available move but a device like the MILESTONE makes turning the tide much more likely.

There’s hardly anything missing on the Motorola MILESTONE spec sheet so we should be ready for an exciting ride. Considering the rate of its sales, the handset is doing well from a user point of view too. Yet, a short-lived success is just not good enough for Motorola: the company doesn’t have the resources to come up with an equally talented successor as quick as some of the competitors. So, the MILESTONE needs to stick around the top of the sales charts for at least a few months to give Motorola some breathing space.

A Chinese site by the name of Mobile Android seems to have found first pictures and specs sheet of the upcoming sequel to the popular Droid phone, dubbed as Motorola Sholes Tablet. The leaked specs sheet looks impressive with 3.7’’ 840×485 WVGA capacitive multi-touch screen, 8 megapixel camera and HDMI output like the one in Zune HD. This combination of HDMI port + 8 megapixel camera will enable Sholes (Droid 2.0) to record high definition video, and then output it in HD 720p resolution.

Sholes Tablet will be powered by Android 2.0 and will not include physical keyboard like its predecessor Motorola Droid on Verizon. We can expect official word on Sholes Tablet from Motorola soon.

Sholes Tablet will probably go on sale in second half of 2010. With Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10 also set to release in the same year as Sholes Tablet and with 8 megapixels camera, things are surely looking good for theAndroid camp. [via BGR]
